Two former Wynn Las Vegas employees have filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, alleging they were terminated for supporting union organizing efforts. A spokesman for Wynn Resorts Ltd. responded, saying, “we are assured that erstwhile the facts are reviewed, they volition beryllium recovered to beryllium without merit.” According to the complaints, Crank and Sharma claim they were fired in retaliation for their decision to unionize and that resort managers were instructed to spy on their activities involving the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 501. The union represents more than 10,000 workers across Nevada, Arizona, and Southern California. The employees also assert that terminating or conducting surveillance on workers for their union activity constitutes a violation of the National Labor Relations Act, a federal statute that safeguards employees’ rights to organize. The NLRB has not provided a timeline for when the complaints will be reviewed.
