Las Vegas Aces defender Chelsea Gray posted a screenshot on her Instagram story showing a social‑media message in which an unidentified user directed a racial slur at her following the Aces’ loss to the Indiana Fever on Sunday. The message, which Gray said she received after the team’s game versus Indy, read: “This was a connection I received after our game vs Indy yesterday,” Gray wrote on her story. “People act like we just make this [expletive] up. And the audacity to tell us as athletes to ‘shut up and dribble.’” The post has been shared across multiple platforms.
The incident follows a similar episode involving Phoenix Mercury guard Alyssa Thomas, who disclosed that she received death threats and was subjected to racial slurs after being suspended one game for striking Caitlin Clark in the throat during a contest last month.
Gray noted that the account responsible for the message had frequently posted sports‑betting content on Threads, and that several of the user’s social‑media profiles were removed within hours of her Instagram story.
Supporters of Gray have taken to social media, tagging the WNBA and other organizations to call for a response to the harassment.
