Angry Anderson, rock star who soundtracked Kylie's wedding in Neighbours, dies aged 79

Angry Anderson, the Melbourne‑born frontman of Rose Tattoo whose track “Suddenly” underscored Kylie Minogue’s character Charlene Mitchell’s wedding on *Neighbours*, has died at the age of 79. Anderson was born in Melbourne in 1947 and rose to prominence with Rose Tattoo, a band that released five albums beginning with their 1978 debut. Nine years after that first record, the group split, prompting Anderson to pursue a solo career. In the summer of 1987 he co‑wrote and issued the single “Suddenly,” which Minogue selected for the *Neighbours* wedding scene. The exposure propelled the song into the top three in both the United Kingdom and Australia, although it was kept from the number‑one position by Minogue’s own debut solo single, “Locomotion.” As a solo artist Anderson recorded two albums before Rose Tattoo reformed in 1993 to support Guns N’ Roses on their Australian tour. The band reunited again in 1998 for its own head‑lining circuit and was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame in 2006. Beyond music, Anderson appeared as Herod in an Australian production of *Jesus Christ Superstar*. In 1993 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his community service, particularly his foundation work and his advocacy for young people.
