Brewers beat Dodgers 6-2 to take 3-0 NLCS lead
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Dodger Stadium, securing a 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series and moving one victory away from their first World Series appearance since 1982. Jackson Chourio gave Milwaukee an early lead with a leadoff home run off Dodgers starter Blake Snell. Los Angeles answered in the sixth inning when Will Smith delivered a two-run double, pushing the Dodgers ahead 2-1 and briefly shifting momentum. The Brewers responded in the seventh inning as Jake Bauers launched a two-run homer after an 11-pitch at-bat, restoring Milwaukee’s advantage. Garrett Mitchell followed with a solo home run, extending the visitors’ lead to 4-2. Milwaukee added another run in the eighth when Brice Turang scored on a wild pitch, then sealed the margin in the ninth on Joey Ortiz’s RBI single. Rookie Robert Gasser laid the groundwork for the Brewers’ success, holding Los Angeles scoreless over five innings while allowing just three hits. Snell struck out nine but surrendered four runs, including three home runs. The Dodgers managed only five hits and failed to hit a home run for the third straight game in the series. Milwaukee will have a chance to clinch the NLCS in Game 4 on Thursday in Los Angeles. The Brewers’ blend of timely hitting and effective pitching places them one win from their first National League pennant since 1982, whereas Los Angeles must win to keep its championship hopes alive.
