Carnival passenger goes missing after cameras capture him going overboard

LOS ANGELES — A rider connected a Carnival Cruise Line vessel returning to Long Beach from Mexico went overboard implicit the play and is inactive missing.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Monday that it was actively looking for a 56-year-old man.

Video filmed by passengers and posted connected societal media captured the cruise ship’s announcement that day.

“Folks, our squad person completed a reappraisal of our antheral overboard cameras, and sadly, sadly, we person been capable to corroborate the impermanent has gone overboard,” passengers were told by a Carnival unit member, according to video posted online.

The passenger’s household and companions were notified, the announcement said, and section authorities were going to proceed the search.

In a statement, Carnival confirmed that a rider had gone overboard.

“When notified of a missing guest, the ship’s squad initiated hunt and probe procedures, including reviewing CCTV footage and notifying some the U.S. and Mexico Coast Guards,” a Carnival spokesperson said successful an email. “Carnival is providing enactment to the household who was traveling with the guest, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.”

The Coast Guard said it was coordinating its hunt efforts with the Mexican navy and commercialized vessels.

The vessel returned to larboard Sunday, a week aft it departed for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, connected Sept. 13.
