Anti‑migrant activist Daniel Thomas, also known as Danny Tommo, appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Friday via videolink, wearing a grey T‑shirt and rosary beads. The 37‑year‑old is charged with entering a restricted area of a migrant processing centre in Dover on 31 March. He is further accused of using threatening words or behaviour in the Kent municipality on 1 April and of obstructing a person engaged in a lawful activity on 6 April. Additional charges allege that he entered or remained in Dover Docks without lawful authority or permission. Thomas also faces a separate complaint of racially aggravated harassment for allegedly employing threatening or abusive language. District Judge William Nelson ordered the case to be transferred for a further hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 4 November. Earlier in the week, Thomas was denied bail during a Crown Court proceeding concerning the alleged slashing of a dinghy in the English Channel.
