Ex-England captain Dallaglio to sell World Cup winner's medal

Former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio, 54, is set to auction his 2003 Rugby World Cup winner's medal after being declared bankrupt. The medal is expected to realise between £50,000 and £80,000, while the full lot of memorabilia carries an estimated value of £180,000. Dallaglio confirmed he will also offer a British and Irish Lions cap, his 1993 World Cup Sevens winner's medal and a 2003 Six Nations Championship winner's medal. He was one of the standout players in the England side that secured the World Cup in dramatic fashion over Australia 23 years ago. Speaking earlier this month on The High Performance podcast, Dallaglio discussed his financial situation. He said: "As a effect of getting divorced, I was made bankrupt." He added: "I had immoderate fiscal problems - I could've done things a batch better." The auction will be held by Budd's in Northamptonshire on 13 October.
