The husband of a general practitioner appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with the murder of his wife, Dr Hannah Terry, also known as Hannah Cain.
Mark Cain, 45, of Fern Hill, was remanded in custody after a brief hearing in which he confirmed only his age, name and address while wearing a black sweatshirt. No plea was entered and he is due to return to court on Thursday.
Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon told the bench that the ambulance service contacted police at 02:25 BST on Sunday. She said a post‑mortem examination “noted blunt unit wounded to the close broadside of her caput had been inflicted, besides an wounded that could beryllium suggestive of compression of the neck”.
District justice Matthew Bone ordered the suspect held pending a further appearance at King’s Lynn Crown Court on Thursday.
