A temporary restraining order is in place to prevent voter intimidation at the Desert Breeze polling site in Las Vegas. The ACLU of Nevada secured the order following several reported incidents during early voting, according to FOX5.
The "Let Nevadans Vote" coalition said nonpartisan election protection volunteers helped identify the incidents. The coalition stated that every eligible voter should be able to cast a ballot without harassment, threats, or intimidation.
FOX5 previously reported complaints of voters being stopped, followed, and confronted by people with megaphones as they tried to reach the polling site. The ACLU also described an incident in which a voter was struck with a megaphone.
Clark County officials said they were aware of the concerns and were working on solutions before the complaint was filed. In a statement, the county said: "We are aware of the ACLU's concerns and are working to put a solution in place that allows voters to continue to safely cast their ballots."
FOX5 obtained video from the first day of early voting showing a confrontation outside the Desert Breeze site. Witnesses said a woman spent hours shouting at people heading into the polls, with some comments targeting voters over the reproductive rights question on the ballot.
