Las Vegas airport has steepest monthly passenger decline in June

Harry Reid International Airport recorded its steepest monthly passenger decline this year in June, according to the Clark County Department of Aviation. The facility served 4.3 million travelers, a 9.3 percent drop compared with June 2025. This follows an 8.4 percent reduction in May, when traffic fell to 4.6 million passengers, previously the largest downturn recorded. Most of the June decrease stemmed from Spirit Airlines’ May 2 shutdown. At that time, Spirit was the No. 2 carrier behind Southwest. Despite the loss, Delta Air Lines—now the No. 2 operator—also reported a 10.2 percent decline, handling 410,453 passengers for the month. Southwest remained steady at 1.9 million passengers. International arrivals and departures showed a modest uptick to 273,850 travelers, while domestic traffic fell 10 percent to 3.9 million. The airport’s westside general aviation terminal and scenic helicopter flights slipped 5.2 percent to 68,510 passengers. Among domestic airlines, Frontier Airlines added many of Spirit’s former routes and rose 24.5 percent to 409,397 passengers. American Airlines held flat at 361,453, and United Airlines increased 2.9 percent to 349,645, placing it among the top five carriers. On the international front, WestJet’s service to Canada dropped 24 percent year‑over‑year to 35,625 passengers, whereas Air Canada rebounded with a 12.1 percent gain to 40,448. Mexican discounter Volaris climbed 9.8 percent to 29,805 for the No. 3 position, and British Airways edged up 1.3 percent to 26,486. For the first half of 2026, total arriving and departing passengers decreased 6.7 percent to 25.8 million. Domestic traffic was down 6.4 percent to 23.8 million, and international traffic fell 10.8 percent to 1.6 million.
