Las Vegas’ LGBTQ+ Center expands with acquisitions

The LGBTQ+ Center of Las Vegas announced the acquisition of Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) and Golden Rainbow, two organizations that provide housing and related services to people living with HIV or AIDS. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Both groups, founded in the 1980s, have long been described as cornerstones of Southern Nevada’s response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, offering housing programs, emergency financial assistance, prescription support and other services, according to a press release. All current employees will remain in their existing positions, and AFAN Executive Director Antioco Carrillo will assume the role of chief housing and integration officer at The Center, the announcement said. The Center employs roughly 85 staff members and is the largest Southern Nevada–based organization dedicated to serving the local LGBTQ community. National records indicate that in 2024 the Center generated approximately $21 million in total revenue, comprised of about $9.6 million from contributions and grants and $11.4 million from program service revenue. Total expenses for the year were reported at roughly $16.4 million, of which $3.8 million covered salaries and benefits. This is simply a processing story. Check backmost for updates.
