A Las Vegas man identified as Juliane Lee, 25, has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty after police discovered a dog and a cat in his apartment that were severely neglected. Lee faces two counts of willfully or maliciously torturing, maiming or mutilating an animal and is currently detained at the Clark County Detention Center awaiting a tribunal hearing scheduled for July 27, according to jail records. The incident came to light in December when officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who was heard screaming before the line went dead. Upon arrival, police reported seeing a shattered window and an open, damaged door at the residence. No occupants were found inside, but a dog and a cat were located in a closed walk‑in closet. The animals were described in the arrest report as “filthy and undernourished, with their ribs disposable done their skin.” The report also noted “many piles of feces” inside the closet and an absence of food or water, leading investigators to conclude that the animals had been “neglected for a precise agelong time.” Lee’s acquaintance, Ryshnique Washington, later approached the apartment and stated she lived there. The report indicated that Washington and Lee had maintained an on‑and‑off relationship for five years. Washington said she had moved out of the unit about a week before the incident and affirmed that the animals belonged to Lee. Both animals were taken to the Animal Emergency Center and subsequently transferred to the Animal Foundation for medical treatment. According to the report, the cat exhibited “more important wellness concerns,” including a debased bosom complaint and accelerated, shallow breathing. Despite medical intervention, the cat’s condition deteriorated and she was euthanized. The dog remains under care at the facility.
