Las Vegas woman charged in connection with drug trafficking crime A Las Vegas resident made her initial appearance in federal court Wednesday in relation to a narcotics trafficking case stemming from an investigation by the Las Vegas Homeland Security Task Force, according to a U.S. Department of Justice release. Olga Josefina Mexia faces one count of conspiracy to administer a controlled substance and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, the release states. U.S. Postal Inspection Service inspectors carried out a controlled delivery on Monday of approximately one kilogram of fentanyl to Mexia’s residence. Upon delivery, Henderson SWAT officers entered the home. During the ensuing search, law‑enforcement officers recovered bulk cash, fentanyl powder both in bulk and individually packaged, and two firearms, the DOJ reported. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 7 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Brister.
