Las Vegas woman charged in Miami crypto scheme linked to Strip thefts

Las Vegas resident Cassandra Dianne Thompson, 35, has been charged in Miami‑Dade County with felony grand theft, money laundering, unlawful use of a communications device, and computer user fraud stemming from a December 2024 incident in which a Miami man alleged he was drugged and relieved of cash and cryptocurrency. The Venmo transaction and the Spirit Airlines purchase also were tied to Thompson or an alias she uses. The victim subsequently identified Thompson from a photographic lineup as the woman he had been with that morning. Thompson’s criminal history in the Las Vegas Valley includes at least 29 arrests or citations since 2014, ranging from traffic violations and solicitation of prostitution to trespassing, disorderly conduct, property damage, and battery, according to Las Vegas Justice Court records. In 2023 she faced two separate cases in which men reported meeting a woman on the Las Vegas Strip, then being robbed in their hotel rooms. A Metropolitan Police Department report from May 2023 describes a tourist who met a woman at the Encore bar, invited her to his room, and accepted a drink she prepared. “From that point, helium could not callback the evening/morning,” police said.
