I person to disagree with Darmon Thornton’s June 18 missive astir EVs and roadworthy funding. Mr. Thornton argues that helium shouldn’t beryllium assessed immoderate taxation for driving an electrical conveyance adjacent though helium is not paying the gasoline tax. His statement is that helium already “contributes heavily” done the value-based governmental services tax. He states helium pays this taxation connected a newer EV and compares that to what an proprietor of an older gas-powered conveyance pays. What?

Mr. Thornton compares apples to oranges. His “newer EV” should beryllium compared to a “newer gas-powered vehicle”when he’s referring to this services tax. And helium inactive hasn’t addressed that the gas-powered conveyance proprietor pays gasoline taxes successful summation to the value-based governmental services tax. He is not paying his just share.
