A Metropolitan Police Department serviceman avoided injury Friday when his motorcycle was struck while he investigated a crash in southeast Las Vegas, authorities said.
Police said that at 8:38 a.m., the officer was investigating a crash when “a passing conveyance collided” with his motorcycle near Rawhide and Mountain Vista streets, close to Russell Road.
“The conveyance did halt and the operator has been detained,” police said in an email. “This is an ongoing investigation.”
Police closed off a lengthy stretch of Mountain Vista Street as they investigated. Officers were also observed questioning a motorist in a white pickup nearby.
