The 48‑year‑old woman succumbed to her injuries, while a 40‑year‑old woman remains in a life‑threatening condition. Police said no arrests have been made, but investigators believe the fire may have been started deliberately. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John stated, “Our inquiries are progressing at pace as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire.” He added that the force’s thoughts are “first and foremost with the victim's household and loved ones at this highly difficult time, as well as everyone who has been injured.” The remaining seven people have been discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries.
