Murder investigation after woman dies and nine injured in fire in west London The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a murder investigation is underway after a woman died and nine people were injured in a blaze in west London. Officers were dispatched to a residential property on Berkley Avenue, Hounslow, at 01:14 BST following reports of the fire. Nine individuals – six men and three women – were taken to hospital. The 48‑year‑old woman succumbed to her injuries, while a 40‑year‑old woman remains in a life‑threatening condition. Police said no arrests have been made, but investigators believe the fire may have been started deliberately. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John stated, “Our inquiries are progressing at pace as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire.” He added that the force’s thoughts are “first and foremost with the victim's household and loved ones at this highly difficult time, as well as everyone who has been injured.” The remaining seven people have been discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries. John noted that the incident is understood to be isolated to the residential address, but officers will stay in the area and provide updates as the investigation proceeds. The London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
