New Prince George photo released as he becomes a teenager

Kensington Palace has released a new photograph of Prince George to mark his 13th birthday. The image, taken by Matt Porteous shortly after the Trooping the Colour ceremony, shows the young prince and was shared on social media with the caption "Happy 13th birthday, George!" accompanied by a popping emoji. Prince George, the eldest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, is second in line to the throne. The release coincides with a significant year for him: he is entering his teenage years and will begin secondary school in September. He is set to follow his father, Prince William, to Eton College, the prestigious boarding school where admission normally starts at age 13. His uncle, Prince Harry, and his great‑uncle, Earl Spencer, also attended Eton. At Eton, George will become a boarder in one of the school’s 25 houses, each housing roughly 55 pupils under the supervision of a housemaster and residential staff. Previously he attended Lambrook School in Berkshire alongside his sister, Princess Charlotte, and brother, Prince Louis. Over the past year, George has taken on a more visible public role. He accompanied Prince William to a Christmas charity event for the homeless, joined King Charles and other senior royals for the Trooping the Colour parade in London to celebrate the monarch’s official birthday, and was spotted with his parents at this year’s Wimbledon tennis championships.
