The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has launched a new advertising campaign aimed at convincing meeting planners to book conventions and trade shows in the city. Dubbed "The Vegas Effect," the business-focused brand platform debuted Oct. 12 to coincide with IMEX America, North America's largest trade show for event planners, which drew 17,800 people to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center for its 15th annual meeting.
The campaign features fast-paced 30-second and 60-second videos showcasing the city's attractions and nightlife with taglines such as "In Vegas, ideas come to life," "Conversations create connections," and "Keynotes are high notes." The ads encourage planners to leverage the energy of the city's after-hours offerings alongside its nearly 15 million square feet of exhibit space.
Meetings and conventions remain a critical component of Las Vegas tourism. The city was recently named the nation's best convention city by Trade Show Executive, a Chicago-based industry publication. Through August, 4.5 million conventioneers have visited Las Vegas, a 10.5 percent increase over 2025 and on pace to approach the 2017 record of 6.6 million attendees.
Last year, the city welcomed 6 million convention attendees, generating $17.1 billion in overall economic output for the region. The LVCVA is expected to release updated visitation and convention statistics for the third quarter next week. Historically, spring and fall are peak seasons for the convention calendar, highlighted by events such as the Global Gaming Expo, which brought more than 25,000 attendees to the city in September.
