New York Times executive fatally shot allegedly by elderly in-laws

Jonathan McKinsey, 40, the New York Times manager of engineering for games subordinate experience, was fatally shot in California, allegedly by his wife’s parents, who have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77 years old, are facing multiple charges, including first‑degree murder. McKinsey was found with several gunshot wounds in a car park in Dublin, approximately 35 miles (56 km) east of San Francisco, on Saturday afternoon, police said. His body was recovered at 15:00 (23:00 GMT) on Thursday outside the Dublin Sports Grounds. Witnesses told KGO‑TV in San Francisco that they heard a flurry of gunshots before seeing the victim on the ground. “I saw the feline driblet to the floor: head bloody and chest bloody,” witness Assad Razawi told the outlet. His daughter added that her father saw the couple “walking unneurotic and past casually locomotion distant from the shooting.” The couple was arrested minutes later by an officer passing the scene. They had remained in the area after the attack, according to a witness. McKinsey was pronounced dead at the scene, police reported. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the killing. The elderly pair are being held at the Santa Rita jail and also face charges of felony conspiracy, wilful discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and child endangerment. They are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to answer the formal charges.
