The NFL announced Saturday it fined Las Vegas Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn $17,911 for a hit on New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson that the league deemed a strike on a defenseless player. The play occurred late in the Raiders' 38-33 victory at MetLife Stadium.
Wilson sustained a concussion on the 15-yard completion and has been ruled out of the Jets' game against the Kansas City Chiefs after not practicing this week. The unnecessary roughness penalty added 15 yards and placed the ball at the Raiders' 35-yard line with 14 seconds remaining.
On the very next snap, Chinn intercepted a pass in the end zone to secure the win for Las Vegas. Chinn told the Review-Journal on Wednesday he was disappointed by the flag, saying he did not know how he could have played it differently while trying to make a play on the ball.
The Raiders, who snapped a four-game losing streak with the win, travel to Santa Clara this week to face the San Francisco 49ers in a Week 9 matchup.
