The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association on Wednesday announced a timeline for the search of its new executive director, and the process for a short-term interim.

The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association has established a timeline for recruiting a new enforcement manager, including an interim appointment. During a Board of Control meeting on Wednesday, the NIAA outlined a nationwide search that will begin Monday, aiming to have a successor in place by November 2. Timothy Jackson, the current enforcement manager, announced his resignation on July 1, effective August 1. The association has already begun seeking an interim enforcement manager. An announcement posted Wednesday opened the application process, with the intention of naming an interim during the week of July 27 so the interim can start August 3, coinciding with Jackson’s departure. To attract a broader applicant pool, the NIAA will accept applications for four weeks. By contrast, when Jackson was hired in the spring of 2023, only two candidates applied during a two‑week period. Qualifications for the role have been revised. A master’s degree and specific diversion‑medication certifications are no longer mandatory. Candidates must now hold at least a bachelor’s degree and possess a minimum of seven years of experience in high‑school sports administration, educational administration, or a closely related field. NIAA legal counsel Neil Rombardo and Douglas Owen, representing the Northern Nevada football officials association, will oversee the recruitment effort. The Board of Control has appointed Colin McNaught, principal of Cimarron‑Memorial High, Gregg Malkovich and Dennis Holmes to a sub‑committee tasked with evaluating candidates. Interviews with finalists are scheduled for the NIAA’s fall Board of Control meetings on September 22 and 23; the sub‑committee will deliberate and select the new enforcement director at those sessions. Although November 2 is listed as the target start date, the actual commencement may occur earlier or later, contingent upon contract negotiations and finalization procedures. Complete details regarding both the interim and full‑time enforcement manager positions will be posted on the NIAA website beginning Monday.
