Two police unions have issued a cease‑and‑desist letter to Henderson City Councilmember Carrie Cox, demanding she stop using their insignia on campaign materials, billboards and her website.
Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers Executive Director Andrew Regenbaum and Henderson Police Supervisors Association President Charles Hedrick sent the letter on Saturday, accusing Cox of misleading the public and asking her to retract any past endorsements.
The letter states, “Indicating that you have our department police endorsements is false and represents a factual misrepresentation to the community.”
According to the unions, false or misleading signs were observed at Saturday’s candidate forum held at the Henderson Heritage Park Senior Center, located near Burkholder Boulevard and South Racetrack Road.
A request for comment from Cox was not immediately returned.
The letter arrives as Cox seeks re‑election to represent Henderson’s Ward 3. She won the 2022 election and her current term is set to expire on Jan. 5, 2027.
In the upcoming November general election, Cox will face Jennifer Atlas. Both candidates advanced from the primary after finishing in the top two positions. Atlas received 4,387 votes, or 38.3 %, while Cox garnered 3,516 votes, or 30.7 %, defeating Annette Dawson Owens and Leroy Hood.
