Racist message to England footballer Jess Carter denied by teen

A teenager has denied sending a racist message to England defender Jess Carter on Instagram. Aaryan Aggarwal, 19, is accused of using a racial slur after calling the footballer “stupid” and “ugly” on 17 July 2025. The alleged message was sent while Carter was taking part in England’s quarter‑final match at the Women’s Euro 2025 tournament, Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court was told. Aggarwal, who lives on Dickens Rise in Chigwell, Essex, pleaded not guilty to transmitting a malicious communication that was offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing. He is scheduled to stand trial in March. The suspect was arrested in September in connection with the police investigation. Grace Court, the prosecuting authority, stated, “This was an incident on the 17 July 2025. The England footballer Jess Carter was currently playing in the Euro 2025 tournament.” She added, “Following a game against Sweden, she received a message.” According to Court, the message read “well done, goose ugly” – preceded by the use of a racial slur.
