Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty will be listed as questionable for Sunday’s road game against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts. He has been dealing with an ankle injury since the preseason, and a foot issue limited his participation in Thursday’s practice. Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said Jeanty would travel with the team and added, “He’s going to do his best to go.”
If Jeanty cannot play, rookie Mike Washington Jr. would be in line for additional work. Washington has 120 yards on 24 carries, including a 36-yard touchdown, but has been a non-factor in the passing game. The Raiders will also be without wide receiver Jalen Nailor, who remains in concussion protocol, and will not activate Dont’e Thornton from injured reserve due to a hamstring injury.
Starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson is expected to return from a groin injury that kept him out of last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, while guard Trey Zuhn is out with a knee injury. On the Patriots’ side, they will be without starting cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis, as well as backups Channing Canada and Karon Prunty. Former Raiders wide receiver Mack Hollins and fullback Reggie Gilliam will also miss the game for New England.
The Raiders are listed as 3½-point underdogs for the Week 5 contest. Despite their first loss of the season to the Chiefs, they have gained national respect and climbed in several NFL power rankings.
