Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty had to be helped off the field after apparently being injured late in Sunday's practice and was unable to put pressure on his right leg.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty left practice with an apparent injury on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, after being helped off the field following a failed attempt to catch a pass. He was unable to put weight on his left leg, and the team has not released an update on his condition. Coach Klint Kubiak is not scheduled to speak with reporters until Tuesday. Jeanty’s teammates gathered around him at the club’s indoor facility, where the squad fell quiet, knelt and prayed after he went down. A photograph accompanying the report shows Jeanty (number 2) in action against the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium on Jan. 4, 2026. The image, credited to Wade Vandervort, captures him during the second quarter of that NFL contest. Selected sixth overall by the Raiders out of Boise State last year, Jeanty hoped to build on a rookie season in which he rushed for 975 yards despite playing behind what Pro Football Reference ranks as the NFL’s worst offensive line. His 1.6 yards per attempt before contact ranked third‑worst among running backs with more than 100 carries. In preseason work, Jeanty saw limited action. He carried the ball three times for 16 yards in the opener against Arizona and did not play in the Thursday night practice session at Houston. Should he miss significant time, rookie Mike Washington Jr., a fourth‑round pick from Arkansas, is expected to move up the depth chart. Washington has logged 15 carries for 119 yards this preseason and has taken snaps with the starting offense. The Raiders will close their preseason schedule by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night.
