Raiders trade veteran offensive lineman ahead of roster cutdown deadline

Las Vegas Raiders traded veteran offensive lineman Jordan Meredith to the New York Jets ahead of the 3 p.m. Sunday roster cutdown deadline. Meredith, who has appeared in 45 games and started 20 over the past four seasons, was dealt in exchange for a 2029 seventh‑round pick, while the Raiders received a 2027 sixth‑round selection from New York. Meredith has lined up at guard and tackle for Las Vegas since joining the team in 2022. His versatility kept him in the mix for a roster spot, but the club opted to move on from him during the final year of his contract. He spent the 2021 training camp with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted rookie out of Western Kentucky before being released prior to the season’s start. Meredith signed with the Raiders in February 2022 and made his NFL debut that year. He was tendered as a restricted free agent in March. With the Jets, Meredith will again block for quarterback Geno Smith, reuniting with the passer after they were teammates with the Raiders last season. Las Vegas must reduce its roster to 53 players by the 3 p.m. Sunday deadline.
