Senior running back carries Sloan Canyon past California school By Justin Lafferty Special to the Review-Journal August 28, 2026 - 10:24 pm Sloan Canyon overcame lightning delays, penalties and injuries to defeat visiting John Muir 35‑20 on Friday night. Early in the third quarter, lightning struck near the stadium at Sloan Canyon, prompting a 30‑minute delay. He recorded two interceptions, the second of which thwarted a Mustangs touchdown to close the third quarter. Oishi and Sloan Canyon had only a few days to prepare for Agbunag, a sophomore who transferred to Muir from McClintock High in Tempe, Arizona, and was cleared by the California Interscholastic Federation’s Southern Section earlier in the week.
