Speedboat killer jailed for violent attack

Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd has been sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for violently assaulting his former partner, including striking her chest with a set of hot barbecue tongs. The 38-year-old pleaded guilty to 2 counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage at Isleworth Crown Court in July. The attacks took place in February and June of the previous year, leading to Shepherd’s recall to custody. In 2018 he was originally jailed for 10 years for manslaughter in the death of 24-year-old Charlotte Brown after his speedboat crashed during a first date. Judge Martin Edmunds previously told the court that the law did not permit him to add any further time to the sentence Shepherd was already serving. Shepherd is due to be released in January 2029. Shepherd was released on licence in January 2024, but was recalled to prison in September of the previous year after being accused of violence towards a woman. On Monday he received a sentence of 20 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by 4 years on extended licence.
