Three men who raped a woman on Brighton beach have been handed substantial prison sentences after a trial at Hove Crown Court. Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, originally from Iran, and Ibrahim Alshafe, 26, from Egypt, were each sentenced to 21 years’ imprisonment. Karin Al-Danasurt, 21, also from Egypt, received a term of 18 years and six months after being convicted of rape as a secondary offence for filming the attack. The judge, Her Honour Judge Christine Henson KC, described the offence as “an entirely predatory and callous attack.” She told the defendants, “You each participated in an entirely predatory and callous attack.” She added, “The impact on your victim was and continues to be devastating. It has had a life‑changing profound and irrevocable impact on her.” The judge continued, “You each treated her with contempt and you each played a role in further degrading her in the most appalling way.” She concluded, “The arrogant and entitled mindset you each displayed that night continued throughout your trial.” Each offender will also serve an additional six years on extended licence and must serve two‑thirds of their custodial term before being considered for parole. The prosecution, led by Hanna Llewellyn‑Waters KC, told the court that the three men “were on the lookout for women that night for sexual purposes” as they visited bars and nightclubs along the Brighton seafront. After leaving a club, they encountered the victim at a fast‑food outlet and proceeded with her to the beach. The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, gave a statement that was read in court. She said, “If I could bash 1 happening I would spell backmost to that nighttime and ne'er spell out.” She also remarked, “All I spot erstwhile I adjacent my eyes is the antheral who was filming it.
