The footage was filmed by a US Navy officer who reported the group of bright airborne objects to the Air Force's UFO investigation programme.

Sixth batch of UFO files released by the Pentagon contains footage from 1952 showing unidentified orbs. The material includes incidents dating back to 1952, among them a recording made near Tremonton, Utah, by US Navy Chief Warrant Officer Delbert C. Newhouse. Newhouse reported observing and filming a formation of gleaming airborne objects. Soon after the sighting, the footage was submitted to the US Air Force and became one of the visual cases examined by Project Blue Book, the Air Force’s UFO investigation programme that operated from 1952 to 1969. Investigators noted, however, that the film’s limited quality and the absence of fixed reference points prevented them from reaching a definitive conclusion. Following a call by US President Donald Trump earlier this year for the release of UFO records as part of an enforcement effort, the Pentagon has declassified hundreds of documents in a series of six drops. The initial tranche of 161 files was posted to the US defence department’s website on 8 May, with officials indicating that additional material will be made available in the future.
