Police said the pursuit began shortly before 17:30 BST on Birmingham Road after officers attempted to stop an Audi, but the driver failed to comply. Approximately 15 minutes later a collision occurred.
The driver of the Ford, initially described as being in her 70s, was taken to hospital together with a female passenger. According to the West Midlands Ambulance Service, the passenger sustained serious injuries that were not considered life‑threatening, while any other occupants of the Ford suffered only minor harm.
After the Audi failed to stop, it fled toward the A46 before doubling back toward Stratford via the A439. Several other vehicles sustained damage during the chase, police reported.
Warwick Road remained closed from the Marraway roundabout to its intersection with Ingon Lane and Sand Barn Lane throughout Monday, with the closure persisting into Tuesday morning.
Manuela Perteghella, Liberal Democrat MP for Stratford‑on‑Avon, said on Tuesday the incdent was "incredibly tragic".
"My thoughts are with the families of each those impacted. We indispensable present fto the probe instrumentality its course."
The Independent Office for Police Conduct is urging anyone who may have recorded footage of the Audi or the pursuit to come forward.
