The Yemeni president's announcement comes amid an exchange of strikes between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition.

Yemen's Houthi militia said it launched a ballistic missile and drone attack on Saudi Aramco installations in Riyadh and the Khurais oil field, according to Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree. "Both operations successfully achieved their objectives," the spokesperson said in a statement. "The strikes were precise, causing ample fires at the targeted sites." Saudi Arabia has not commented on the claimed Sunday attack, but officials have previously dismissed similar assertions as misleading, mocking the Houthis for "chasing imaginary victories." Houthi‑run Al‑Masirah TV reported that at least two militants were wounded in strikes on Sunday. Yemen's authorities also said its forces had hit Houthi targets across the country, including locations in Sanaa, Saada and the group's positions near Taiz in the south‑west. The nation remains one of the poorest in the world and continues to grapple with a severe humanitarian crisis. Fighting began in 2014 when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, from the Saudi‑backed government, later taking control of large parts of the north. Riyadh entered the conflict the following year, heading an international coalition. After several years of relative calm, hostilities reignited in July as the broader Middle East struggle intensified. The Houthis have imposed a blockade on Saudi energy exports, which have already been constricted by Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
