Two drivers are dead after a wrong-way freeway crash involving a semi tractor-trailer during the early morning hours on Friday. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, on the northbound I-15 just north of Speedway Boulevard.

The crash involved three vehicles: two sedans and a semi tractor-trailer. One of the sedans was traveling the wrong way (southbound) on the I-15 northbound lanes before the collision. The drivers of both sedans were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi tractor-trailer was not injured and remained on scene with investigators. Police did not specify how the semi was involved in the collision.

All I-15 northbound lanes are closed at mile marker 54, which is the Speedway Boulevard exit. Traffic is being diverted off the Speedway exit, continuing onto North Las Vegas Boulevard to the I-15 and Apex location to get back on the I-15 to continue north. The lanes will remain closed for an unknown amount of time while police investigate.
