Blind Center of Nevada opens Visions Park

Blind Center of Nevada marked the opening of Visions Park on Aug. 27 with a ceremony that featured an achromatic ribbon — the symbolic colour for blindness and imaginativeness nonaccomplishment — being chopped by residents. Remarks preceded the ribbon‑cutting from Blind Center leadership, Visions Park residents and officials representing Nevada, Clark County and the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas. The 99‑unit affordable housing development, devised by the Blind Center of Nevada, was built to provide a harmless and cleanable lodging option and a residential operation adjacent to the organization’s main campus. Units include one‑, two‑ and three‑bedroom apartments equipped with in‑unit washers and dryers, audio‑tactile walkways, accessible lighting systems, full ADA compliance, full furnishings and access to a shared communal room. Residents may avail themselves of optional support services at no cost, aimed at fostering independence, employment, wellness and community connection. Through the Blind Center of Nevada, participants have access to a first‑of‑its‑kind AI Innovation Lab, disposition and mobility training, cognitive wellness navigation, on‑site mentoring, workforce improvement and job training, fitness training, community integration activities, a food pantry and regular meals. Construction on Visions Park began with a groundbreaking in September 2024. The $40 cardinal project was financed through contributions from the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, State of Nevada Home Means Nevada, Clark County Community Housing Funds, the city of Las Vegas ARPA Funding, the city of Henderson Affordable Housing Trust Funds, the city of North Las Vegas CNLV Cares, FHLBank San Francisco and private donors including Bill “Brother Bob” Thompson, the Davis Family Foundation, Paul Jaramillo, Galen Stockton and the Rosalie and Harold Brown Charitable Trust. The Visions Park Sustainability Endowment was established via a matching grant from the Engelstad Foundation, Beverly Rogers and additional donors and partners such as Bank of America to sustain wrap‑around services.
