Clark County School District Police Chief Jeff Clark announced Monday that the department will not pursue a contract to access Flock Safety’s license plate reader systems. The decision follows a thorough review initiated after community members raised concerns regarding student privacy and safety. The district had previously obtained Flock data through partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, including an agreement with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Foundation to access shared cameras across Clark County and the Las Vegas area. After the agreement was reported in August, the district suspended its use of Flock systems while Clark conducted the review. Clark clarified that the district’s police department does not own or operate Flock hardware but had accessed data through these partner agencies in the past. He stated that any future developments concerning the technology will be communicated to the Board of School Trustees and the public. In situations involving imminent danger, the district will collaborate with law enforcement partners and utilize all available resources to ensure safety, he added.
