College football predictions: Illinois, Arizona are Friday’s best bets

Five college football games spanning the ACC, American, Big Ten, Mountain West and Big 12 conferences are scheduled for Friday night, offering bettors a full slate of options.

The Review-Journal's top play from the power conferences is Illinois against Nebraska. The Illini offense looked markedly different with quarterback Katin Houser back from a hand injury in last week's 20-17 win over Maryland. Though Houser was not sharp, Illinois outgained the Terrapins 407-288 and averaged 5.6 yards per carry. For the season, Houser has completed 64.8% of his passes with a 13-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Conversely, Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea has struggled recently, posting a 2-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his last three games while rushing 37 times for just 105 yards. He has also been sacked 11 times in that span. The handicapper notes Colandrea, listed at 6 feet and 200 pounds, is taking significant punishment behind a Cornhuskers offense averaging fewer than 5 yards per play in October.

The second recommended play involves Arizona against TCU. The Horned Frogs' offense has stagnated under Sonny Dykes, scoring just 22 points against Kansas last week for their best Power Four output of the season. Harvard transfer Jaden Craig has thrown 11 touchdowns against six interceptions but has been sacked 21 times.
