For many, the high school football game of the year is Friday night — and maybe not the game you are thinking of.
Yes, Bishop Gorman hosts Mater Dei of California in a battle of powers that could decide the mythical national championship. There will be a ton of Division I players on both sidelines to bring plenty of hype and anticipation.
But that’s not the only game of note.
The Henderson Bowl rivalry game between Basic and Green Valley never disappoints, partially because both communities show up in full force to support the neighborhood school and also because the game is typically close.
We’ll analyze both games in this week’s picks column. It went 15-3 last week and stands at 64-30 on the season.
Mater Dei at Bishop Gorman
