Hoover Dam reopening to visitors Friday after cableway carriage moved back in place

Hoover Dam will welcome visitors again on Friday, July 31 after the overhead cableway carriage was returned to its proper position and repairs were finished, the Bureau of Reclamation said. The dam had been closed since Monday while crews addressed the unexpected movement of the carriage. Although public access was suspended, the dam’s power plant continued to operate normally during the closure, according to a Bureau of Reclamation release. An overhead cableway carriage had shifted unexpectedly on Monday, prompting the temporary closure.
