Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart departed Tuesday's morning skate with what appeared to be a lower-body injury, casting doubt on his availability for the evening's game against the Ottawa Senators. The injury occurred while Hart was making a save; he skated to the bench, remained there briefly, then limped to the locker room. Emergency backup goaltender Daren Millard took his place for the remainder of the session.
Coach Ryan Craig confirmed that Adin Hill will start in net. "He's being evaluated," Craig said. "He's in good hands here. We have a plan here, and we're moving forward either way." Craig offered no further update on Hart's condition or whether Hart had been slated to start.
If Hart cannot play, the Knights will need to recall a goaltender from their AHL affiliate in Henderson. Third-string netminder Carl Lindbom is currently sidelined with an injury, making Cameron Whitehead the likely call-up option. Hart owns a 4-3-1 record this season with a 2.76 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage, though he has lost three of his last four starts.
Hill will aim to bounce back after allowing six goals in his most recent start Thursday in St. Louis. The Knights could also see lineup changes elsewhere, with Ville Heinola and Jonas Røndbjerg expected to play against Ottawa. Mitch Marner returned to practice Monday after missing the previous two games for the birth of his son.
