Las Vegas events honor victims, fallen heroes on 25th anniversary of 9/11

September 11, 2026 - 6:09 am Twenty-five years after the devastating attacks of September 11, 2001, the Las Vegas Valley will observe several commemorations on Friday to honor first responders and the thousands of victims lost that day. The annual Tolling of the Bells ceremony will begin at 6:45 a.m. at Las Vegas Fire Station 5, located at 1020 Hinson Street. At the site, a piece of steel that once rested atop the World Trade Center will be raised to half‑staff. Later in the morning, at 8:30 a.m., hundreds of students and Junior ROTC cadets will gather for a memorial dedicated to Barbara Edwards, the 58‑year‑old Palo Verde High School teacher who was aboard the American Airlines flight hijacked and flown into the Pentagon. The Las Vegas Ten‑13 Club will also hold a remembrance service for those who perished on 9/11 at Police Memorial Park, situated at 3250 Metro Academy Way.
