LETTER: Narrow-minded fights against data centers
Boulder City resident Brynn deLorimier told the Review-Journal in its July 7 edition that “the fight” against a information halfway “is conscionable starting, and we’ll combat each measurement of the way.” The comment prompted criticism that the opposition is narrow‑minded.
The letter goes on to suggest that critics should examine whether the proposed facility would employ a closed‑loop water‑cooling system rather than drawing heavily on local supplies, and whether it would generate its own electricity instead of straining the regional grid, possibly even feeding surplus power back.
It further notes that the project could bring tax revenue, stimulate economic activity, and help Boulder City build needed infrastructure while creating well‑paid jobs and supporting amenities such as parks for children.
Finally, the writer urges opponents to gather all the facts before deciding to resist every aspect of the proposal merely for the sake of opposition.
