LETTER: Strange mindset James Woods Henderson August 28, 2026 - 9:00 pm What is happening with the Democratic members of Nevada’s legislative delegation? The party’s current rallying cry is “affordability.” They want voters to blame President Donald Trump for rising prices. Yet before Nevadans cast a ballot for a Democrat this year, they ought to examine where the affordability issue originated. Inflation stood at roughly 2 percent during Mr. Trump’s first term and is about 3.3 percent so far this year. By contrast, consumer prices increased more than 20 percent under President Joe Biden. That 21.5 percent increase is not disappearing; it is here to stay. Much of that CPI growth stemmed from unprecedented federal spending, including measures backed by Nevada Representatives Susie Lee, Steven Horsford and Dina Titus, as well as Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto. Those same officials now criticize Mr. Trump on affordability concerns, such as fuel costs.
