The local music scene has been heating up with new releases. Here are our favorite singles of the week.

B.Rose, “PCH” Back in March, B.Rose gave us a taste of new soul-stirring music with an original set at The Space. How she found the time between gigging at Easy’s Cocktail Lounge and managing Full Circle Studios LV is a mystery—but we rejoice at her return. On “PCH,” the singer’s first release since 2022’s Closer to Me, B.Rose doubles down on harmonies, layering vocals over gently humming guitars and an electric bridge. In the music video, she meets and falls in love with a mysterious alien, singing about her conflicting desire in the line “Electricity I have to hide/I must have loved you in another life.” Let’s hope we hear this one live when she opens for Say She She at Swan Dive on August 8. linktr.ee/Brosemusiq

AKASHAA, “Worship.” AKASHAA, the neo-soul artist formerly known as Ami Divine, captured our devotion with the psychotropic premiere of Bloom, an album she self-produced. Now, she’s returned with “Worship.,” a spellbinding spoken-word track, kneeling at the altar of coolly applied affirmations and the embrace of one’s “dark feminine.” “It’s about caring for yourself like a goddess, dancing in your reflection, and knowing your worth is sacred,” AKASHAA said on Instagram.linktr.ee/akashaa.art

Saara, “Serato” In “Serato,” R&B singer-songwriter Saara claps back at a crappy partner with a breakup song for the books. Under whirring synths and fluttering hi-hats, the singer beautifully delivers her lines, flinging barbs at her ex’s flop of a DJ career (“Them clubs don’t want you baby/And neither do I”) and recognizing her self worth. It’s exactly the kind of track we’d expect from this outspoken rising star— and a reminder not to cross her. too.fm/bbdxxb6

Scorpio, “So Cool (dope)” Las Vegas musician Cameron Calloway has returned, producing new sun-soaked soul jams under the swaggering persona of Scorpio. “So Cool (Dope)” shimmers with modern, soul-pop sensibilities and warbling grooves. It’s the kind of cut you crank up on a car ride—with your crush. “She’s so fly/She don’t even try,” Scorpio lilts in his signature falsetto, feathery and flirtatious by design. Scorpio season has come early, and we’re here for the ride. linktr.ee/music_scorpio

Kenyadda, “Sweet Love Jones” Chicago-raised rapper Kenyadda teases us with a one-minute-36-second ballad we can’t get out of our heads. Channeling the emotional range and freestyle stamina of Wale and Nas, Kenyadda taps into his vulnerability with clever wordplay and a nimble delivery. Local producer QuixkMadeIt only seems to add to that energy with flourishing keys and skittering percussion. These two have made a dynamic duo on every project they’ve ever worked on, so it’s no wonder we can’t stop running this back. youtube.com/c/kenyadda

Spring Breeding, “Stretch Your Arms” Buzzing in distortion and quivering with pent-up pit energy, “Stretch Your Arms” is a powder keg of a single. Spring Breeding’s dance-punk identity shines through on this erratic cut, placing an emphasis on insane drum blasts and manic vocals. It’s abrasive, oftentimes slamming on its breaks, but surprisingly rhythmic; a car crash of a track from which you can’t pull your ears away. linktr.ee/springbreeding

Mercy Music, “Big F*cking Mess” Vegas’ favorite melodic punks joined forces with Double Helix Records label mates Danger Days to drop this previously unreleased track—and it could not have come at a better time. “Big F*king Mess” pounds with a cathartic fervor, driven by frenzied riffs, explosive drumming and angsty, anthemic refrains we’ve come to expect from lead vocalist and guitarist Brendan Scholz. We’ve been jonesing for more Mercy Music since 2023’s What You Stand to Lose. And with the band heading out on tour in July, maybe we’ll hear more unreleased gems sooner rather than later. linktr.ee/Mercymusic
