Multiple Nevada legislators have received threats in the last week that law enforcement has since responded to, a source close to the situation confirmed to the Sun today.

Speaking to reporters Monday after a press conference, state Sen. Dina Neal, D-North Las Vegas, said five legislators got the bomb threat following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.

Neal said she “was mistakenly included in that list.”

“While I was rushing home to my son, I didn’t have a plan for what happens if my house blows up,” she said, tears falling down her face. “I didn’t have a plan for what happens if Assemblywoman Monroe-Moreno was found dead.”

Neal, responding to a question about a vigil for Kirk at UNLV that took place Monday, said his death highlighted the need to heal divisions within the country. She also stressed her worry that Kirk’s killing is being used for “retaliatory politics.”

“These are not politics I want to live in,” she said. “We need to be having a conversation about how we’re going to serve Nevadans and how we’re going to be better people just for America in general.”

Roger Wilkerson — deputy director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau’s administrative division, which oversees the Legislative Police — wrote in an email to the Sun it’s policy to not comment on “security-related issues” for “the safety of our Legislators and staff.”
