Nevada Preps: Lightning, weather delays put start of prep football season on hold

Lightning delays in Las Vegas have postponed at least three high school football games on the opening Friday night. The affected matchups are Green Valley at Foothill, Sierra Vista at Desert Oasis, and Central East (California) at Sloan Canyon. Spectators were barred from the Green Valley‑Foothill contest at Foothill Stadium in Henderson. Under state policy, play is prohibited when lightning is detected within 10 miles of a venue; teams may return to the field after a 30‑minute lightning‑free interval. No other delays or cancellations have been reported. Bishop Gorman’s season opener versus Losee remains set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
