Nevada’s only crude oil refinery is back in operation

The Eagle Springs Refinery, located near Ely, restarted production on Thursday, according to a company release. Sky Quarry, a Utah‑based energy infrastructure firm, has owned the facility since 2022 when it purchased Foreland Refining Corporation, which continues to operate the plant. The refinery had been shut down during the fourth quarter of 2025 due to a boiler repair and related problems, as disclosed in Securities and Exchange Commission filings. Preparations for the restart included roughly $300,000 in repairs and upgrades. According to SEC documents, the plant processes diesel, vacuum state oil, naphtha and liquid paving asphalt sourced from crude lipid suppliers in the Uintah Basin that spans Nevada and Utah.
