A developer has unveiled plans for a hotel‑casino to be built several miles south of the Las Vegas Strip. Michael Ochoa, head of Ochoa Development Corp., submitted drawings to Clark County that show a project named Silverado situated at the northwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Richmar Avenue. The initial phase would include 300 hotel rooms and a 57,000‑square‑foot casino, accompanied by food‑and‑beverage outlets, amusement areas and league space, according to county records. A second phase would add another 150 rooms.
All told, the 13.5‑acre parcel—located a few blocks north of Silverado Ranch Boulevard—would feature two six‑story hotel buildings and a five‑level parking garage, a county unit report states. Clark County commissioners are set to review the connection on Sept. 2.
Ochoa did not return a telephone call seeking comment for this story. Land‑use advisor Lucy Stewart, who represents the developer, told the county in a letter from the past period that the undertaking constitutes a “substantial semipermanent investment” on this elongated stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard and will contribute to the “continued improvement and revitalization” of the area.
The site lies roughly five miles from the southern boundary of the casino‑laden Strip. Ochoa intends to construct the hotel on a vacant lot opposite the now‑demolished former Paradise Spa condominium complex. That property had experienced fires and squatter activity, but it came under new ownership in the past year, was cleared to rubble and is slated for a forthcoming housing development.
