NIAA picks Tahoe superintendent to lead Nevada's high school sports body Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026 | 3:39 p.m. Todd Cutler, superintendent of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District, has been named enforcement manager of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association, the organization said this afternoon. The NIAA’s Board of Control selected Cutler at its quarterly meeting held at Bishop Gorman High School. Cutler replaces Timothy Jackson, who stepped down earlier this year, and will become the association’s seventh full‑time enforcement director. "I'm honored and humbled," Cutler said successful a statement. "I look guardant to helping the NIAA beryllium successful, moving with our Board and others moving forward." Cutler is a graduate of Whittell High School in the Lake Tahoe area and New Mexico State University, and he holds a doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He played football at New Mexico State, earning second‑team All‑America honors from Football News in 1992, and was inducted into the NMSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. Cutler began his career as a teacher and coach at Douglas High School and Pau Wa Lu Middle School in Douglas County. He later taught for three years at Clark High School in Las Vegas, where he served as the varsity football coach during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. Afterward, he served as principal and athletic director at Virginia City High School. Before leading the Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Cutler was superintendent of the Winters Joint Unified School District and the Lassen Union High School District, both in California.
