North Las Vegas elects Daniele Monroe-Moreno as next mayor

North Las Vegas voters elected former Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno as their next mayor Tuesday, with unofficial results showing her leading City Councilman Scott Black 58.05% to 41.95%. If the lead holds, Monroe-Moreno will succeed Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown, who was term-limited. Monroe-Moreno, a Democrat who has represented North Las Vegas in the Assembly since 2016 and chairs the state Democratic Party, led Black 47% to 42% in the June primary. Goynes-Brown endorsed Black, who has represented Ward 3 since 2017 and serves as mayor pro tem, and he outspent Monroe-Moreno by a wide margin, according to the Nevada Independent. The mayor's office is nonpartisan.

In Henderson, Mayor Michelle Romero won a second term with 60.59% of the vote, defeating former Police Chief Hollie Chadwick, who received 39.41%. The Associated Press called the race with about 80% of votes counted. Chadwick launched her campaign in 2025 after the city fired her as police chief. Romero narrowly missed winning outright in the June primary with 49.75% of the vote.

Clark County election officials will continue counting mail ballots postmarked on or before Election Day throughout the week. In other races, Jennifer Atlas defeated incumbent Councilwoman Carrie Cox in Henderson's Ward III, and Esmeralda Villeda won North Las Vegas' Ward 1 seat. The Las Vegas City Council Ward 2 race between Shannon Nordstrom and Luke McCarthy remained close, with Nordstrom leading by 141 votes. In Clark County Commission District F, Democrat Minja Yan led the field, while Commissioner Jim Gibson won reelection in District G.
